Interesting Movie that Makes You Think

Posted Dec 5 2025

Yesterday, I went to see “Rental Family.” It’s been out for a bit, so there was only me and two others in the movie theater, which was nice. We each got a lot of space. I went alone since I am temporarily out of state caring for my mother. She has a helper who comes once a week for a few hours, and I took advantage of that assistance to get a little “me time.”

I found this movie super interesting, at times disturbing, but ultimately thought-provoking. As a writer, I live in fictional worlds when I work. Even when I am not at my computer, I might be traipsing through fictional worlds in my head. This movie addresses the issue of fiction crossing the line into reality. Is it okay to pretend if pretending has a positive end result? Or is the truth always better? When does a white lie become too big? What if pretending hurts others?

On another note, I’ve always been a Brendan Fraser fan. He tends to play the type of nice, reliable beta males that I adore. The ones that don’t have to act macho to feel manly and to be truly masculine.

The Japanese setting adds another interesting layer to the movie.

Have you seen “Rental Family?” If so, what did you think?

Haha! Our terrier mix and shepherd mix are certainly selective, too. They hear "treat" without fail, but "down" or "no!" don't always register. Raggs is such a cute name!

Reggie certainly looks happy! My own dog, Raggs, has "selective" hearing--and he's not well trained. But. Our dogs are family and we do love them.

Thanks, Barbara! I wish I could write faster, too! My ideas are backing up in my head. : ) I wish my brain had a USB port where I could automatically download the stories from my mind to the page. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! I'm hard at work on the second one, A Trip with Trouble.

I LOVED getaway with Murder. The second book can't be published soon enough. Can you write any faster? ;-)
